Thailand Science Park Participates in SPIF 2023: Expanding Opportunities for Thai Innovation Business on the Global Stage
On June 14-16, 2023, Dr. Jenkrishana Kanatharana, Executive Vice President of Industry and Community Engagement at the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), participated in SCIENCEPARK INNOFAIR 2023 (SPIF 2023) in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea. The event, organized by the Asian Science Park Association (ASPA), aimed to foster exchange and seek cooperation opportunities among organizations and companies playing crucial roles in national and regional science, technology, and innovation development.
During the event, Dr. Jenkrishna, acting as a representative of Thailand Science Park and serving as a speaker, delivered a presentation on the "STP model for the development of future industry and STP’s role in the region." He also took part in "The LEADERS Round Table Meeting," discussing the roles of STPs and the processes of cooperation in fostering regional innovation and future industries. This event provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge with foreign science parks, build networks, and broaden opportunities for state-to-state cooperation, aimed at driving Thailand's innovation economy into various regions. This initiative also included promotion and support for Thai businesses to expand overseas, and for foreign entrepreneurs to recognize the potential of Thailand's globally-standardized research infrastructure, along with the benefits that could stimulate foreign investment in Thailand.

In his presentation, Dr. Jenkrishana discussed Thailand 4.0, a strategy focusing on ten priority industries: Agriculture and Biotechnology, Food for the Future, Smart Electronics, Next Generation Automotive, Affluent Medical and Wellness Tourism, Biofuel and Biochemicals, Medical Hub, Automation and Robotics, Aviation and Logistics, and Digital Economy. This strategy aligns with the Bio-Circular-Green Economy Model (BCG Economy Model), emphasizing not only economic growth but also inclusive growth and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Jenkrishna concluded at the event that the NSTDA, in its role as the supervisory body for Thailand Science Park, Software Park Thailand, Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation, and Food Innopolis, plays a supportive role for technology businesses of all sizes, from startups to large and foreign enterprises. He underscored the importance of cooperation among all sectors, both public and private within the country, necessitating efficient and continuous relations. Trust and confidence in each government unit are vital. Meanwhile, science parks could function as the first gateway to foster opportunities and enhance global market competitiveness for these businesses.
