The Thailand Science Park (TSP) has partnered with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP) to identify high-potential Thai startups for participation in the Idea Landing Program for one year. This initiative aims to enhance technological exchange, nurture Deep Tech Startups, and expand business opportunities between the two countries. Three representative startups from TSP were selected as the final three out of eight teams:
KronoLife – An anti-aging tech startup founded by Dr. Tawin Iempridee, a researcher from NANOTEC with expertise in cancer biology and aging. KronoLife has developed innovations targeting senescent cells and aging hallmarks, the underlying causes of aging. Their products include anti-aging active ingredients, cosmetics, dietary supplements, and services for testing product efficacy and safety, as well as blood-based biological age assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of anti-aging interventions.
Nanocoating Tech – A green tech startup established by Dr. Tanyakorn Muangnapoh, a researcher specialising in nanocoating technology for surface protection have developed modern industrial products featuring a variety of properties, such as water and dust repellence, using ultra-thin silica nanocoating technology. Focused on using Green Technology, these advancements support clean energy usage and reduce carbon dioxide emissions in line with the BCG (Bio-Circular-Green Economy) model. The range includes nanocoating for solar panels, complete with comprehensive cleaning and coating services, which can enhance electricity production efficiency by up to 5% annually and significantly reduce cleaning costs. Additionally, nanocoating have been produced and distributed for building walls, residential homes, historical sites, architecture, and agricultural greenhouses, aiming to reduce the formation of water stains and dirt build-up, thus extending the lifespan and maintaining the aesthetic integrity of structures.
3. Tasted Better – A food tech startup founded by Miss Peerada Supharphan and Mr.Trai Sastawatna, who have developed low-glycemic-index food flours as alternatives for individuals with allergies to milk or eggs and those with special dietary needs. This provides a new choice in the processed food industry, catering to modern consumers and developing products suitable for commercialization.
These three DeepTech startups, along with the TSP team, participated in the program from February 26 to March 3, 2024, engaging in various activities, including the opening ceremony, knowledge sharing on funding sources, research and development, and networking with universities, startups, entrepreneurs, and investors in Hong Kong. The activities provided key information on market strategies, technology, and the business ecosystem in Hong Kong and China. Additionally, the startups have registered limited companies in Hong Kong under the HKSTP program, showing their commitment to exploring the Hong Kong market over the year-long funding period and seeking opportunities to partner with local partners, distributors, and investors.
Miss Peerada and Mr.Trai spoke about their participation in this event, saying, “The collaboration between TSP and the HKSTP in organizing this program has been beneficial for Deep Tech Startups in communicating business ideas to Hong Kong people and the Hong Kong market specifically, including conducting business in Hong Kong overall, while considering the unique characteristics of each startup's business primarily. Beyond this program, TSP is fully capable of supporting and pushing for connections with other regions such as North America, which presents a great opportunity for startups ready to expand their market.”
Dr. Tawin and Dr. Thanyagorn added, “The collaboration that has emerged is one of the crucial steps that show the connection between TSP and HKSTP. The support and promotion of Thai startups in Hong Kong not only opens new business opportunities but also creates a bridge for cultural and technological exchange between the two countries. It also reflects the recognition of the potential and value of Thai innovation on the global stage. The advancements of KronoLife and Nanocoating Tech in Hong Kong will serve as inspiration and a fine example for the next generation of Thai startups.”
