Thailand Science Park Welcomes Vietnamese Trade Counsellors to Discuss R&D Collaboration Opportunities between Thai and Vietnamese Entrepreneurs
On June 27, 2024, Thailand Science Park (TSP), led by Dr Sanat Wongtaweethong, Deputy Director of TSP, and Ms. Chompoonuch Anudsardsittikit, Director of Business Development and Innovation Cluster, welcomed a delegation from the Embassy of Vietnam in Thailand. The delegation was headed by Mr. Le Huu Phuc, Trade Counsellor, along with Mr. Ngo Quang Loi, Mr. Dang Dinh Tuyen, First Secretatry and Mr. Hoang Duc Trung, Second Secretary.
The purpose of this visit was to understand the role of TSP in promoting and supporting technology businesses, and to learn how private sector entrepreneurs collaborate with academic institutions. The delegation aimed to exchange knowledge and learn about the successful commercialisation of research in Thailand, an area where Vietnam also places significant emphasis.
Mr. Le Huu Phuc provided an overview of Vietnam’s innovation development, focusing on sectors such as Semiconductor, Smart City, Smart Factory, Cyber Security, and Food & Agriculture. He highlighted the challenges faced in the effective commercialisation of research and the obstacles in fostering innovation.
During the visit, Ms. Chompoonuch led the delegation on a tour of key facilities, including the SuperComputer, Thailand Bioresource Research Centre (TBRC), and the Advanced Nanotechnology Characterisation Centre. They also visited companies conducting research and development within TSP, such as Betagro Science Centre, SMS Creative X under Siam Modified Starch Co., Ltd., and T.A.S. Co.,Ltd.
Following the tour, discussions were held on future collaboration opportunities in innovation development between the two countries. The management of TSP expressed their enthusiasm in welcoming Vietnamese companies and supporting Vietnamese startups to participate in various activities at TSP.
This visit marks a significant step towards strengthening the R&D collaboration between Thai and Vietnamese entrepreneurs, potentially leading to innovative advancements beneficial for both countries.
