Nano Coating Tech

Nano Coating Tech is a deep tech startup that originated from research at the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). Founded by Dr. Tanyakorn Muangnapoh also known as Dr. Erg, the company represents a journey from laboratory innovation to real industrial application.
The story began with a simple industry request to develop a coating spray for shoes, a product that did not yet exist in Thailand at the time. This opportunity led the team to recognize the potential of their core technology, nano silica, which could be further developed across multiple industries.
After more than seven years as a researcher, Dr. Erg established Nano Coating Tech Co., Ltd. in 2022. The company focuses on advanced nanocoating solutions capable of protecting a wide range of surfaces. Its strength lies in a proven core technology that has already been validated in industrial applications, combined with an existing customer base built during the research phase. Within just four months of operation, the company generated over 480,000 THB in revenue.

Today, Nano Coating Tech is the first and only company in Thailand dedicated to developing coating solutions for solar panels, with customized formulations tailored to different types of dust found in various environments, whether from industrial zones, livestock farms, or urban areas. Each solution is developed through on-site sampling, analysis, and formulation to ensure optimal performance.
Transitioning into a startup has enabled the team to move faster, engage directly with customers, and respond more effectively to market needs. As Dr. Erg explains, the shift from researcher to CEO requires a different mindset. While research focuses on technical excellence, running a business means developing solutions that customers are willing to pay for, alongside building capabilities in finance, marketing, and sales.
Now in its fourth year, the company continues to grow strongly. Revenue reached 7.9 million THB last year, representing a 330 % increase from the first year. The company is targeting 20 million THB this year, with an ambition to reach 100 million THB within the next three years.

Why Thailand Science Park?
Being located at Thailand Science Park has played a key role in this growth. It enhances credibility and reinforces the company’s identity as a deep tech startup. The environment provides direct access to advanced facilities such as NSTDA Characterization and Testing Service Center, enabling rapid testing and analysis.
Equally important is the proximity to researchers and experts, allowing immediate consultation and problem solving. Even when challenges cannot be solved internally, they can be redirected to NSTDA research centers, creating a seamless link between industry needs and research capabilities.
Dr. Erg strongly believes that research-driven companies benefit significantly from being part of this ecosystem, where collaboration and access to resources are far more efficient than operating outside.
Expanding Beyond Thailand
From the beginning, the company aimed to become a global startup. Today, Nano Coating Tech has expanded into Hong Kong and China, supported by international collaboration between Thailand Science Park and partner science parks abroad. This has enabled the company to enter the Greater Bay Area, one of the world’s most dynamic markets.
Looking Ahead
Nano Coating Tech sees further opportunities to expand into new markets and applications. At the same time, the company hopes to see more internal engagement activities within Thailand Science Park to strengthen collaboration among tenant companies and unlock more partnership opportunities.
From a researcher’s perspective, Dr Erg also suggests enhancing pathways for technology commercialization by allowing businesses to trial research outputs before committing to licensing. This approach could help bridge the gap between research and industry, particularly for SMEs, and lead to more sustainable and measurable technology transfer.
Nano Coating Tech’s journey reflects the power of translating research into real world impact. Supported by the ecosystem at Thailand Science Park, the company has successfully bridged science and industry, demonstrating how deep tech innovation can scale from local roots to global markets.
