Professor Joseph KOC is an experienced technology business strategist, startup mentor, and innovation ecosystem advisor with more than three decades of experience across Asia. His expertise spans business strategy, market expansion, entrepreneurship, and cross border innovation collaboration, supporting startups, corporates, universities, and government organisations in building sustainable innovation ecosystems.
Joseph Koc joined Jardine OneSolution (“JOS”), a division of Jardine Matheson, one of the largest regional IT distributors and system integrators in Asia after attaining his Master of Business Administration from Indiana University, Bloomington in 1988.
During his tenure with JOS, Joseph has championed various strategic developments. Such include the IT distribution business, multi-brand retail chain store, system integration function and the strategic marketing and planning unit at the JOS Group Head Office. His last position with JOS as Board Member and Group Director, Strategic Marketing covering the various Asian regional offices of JOS. Joseph was also a certified Executive Coach of the Jardine Matheson Group.
An active member in the start-up and social enterprise ecosystems in HK since early 2010. Joseph has served as an Exco Member of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Specialist Group, Hong Kong Computer Society, through which he has developed mentorship and coaching initiatives for various incubation and acceleration programs in HK until 2024.
Joseph has taken on advisory roles to various start-up ecosystems and various incubation and acceleration programs, contributing his experience in the area of sales and marketing strategy, business and territorial development. In 2017, Joseph was appointed by the Cyberport Management Company Limited and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporate to serve at various roles as domain expert, Member of Entrepreneurship Committee Advisory Group, Global Ambassador to ASEAN.
In 2024, Joseph was appointed as Advisor to the Thailand Science Park, National Science and Technology Development Agency of the Government of Thailand. Under this appointment, Joseph's primary focus will be to facilitate and support business expansion of start-ups from Thailand to HK and GBA as well as from the HK and GBA to Thailand.
Joseph was appointed by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to the position of Adjunct Associate Professor of the School of Business and Management in Hong Kong University and Science and Technology. Joseph is also appointed by the Investment Sub-Committee (ISC) for the HKUST Entrepreneurship Fund (“E-Fund”) as an Advisor E-Fund in 2024.
